Reporting Phishing Emails using Microsoft Outlook
Purpose: In order to reduce the risk of personal or company information being stolen, a new tool has been implemented in Microsoft Outlook to help you in reporting phishing/scam emails.
Pre-requisite: This procedure assumes the user has:
- Access to GLG email using Microsoft Outlook Desktop and Web version
- Microsoft Report Message option is available
Procedure:
When opening your emails, please ensure it is sent from a trusted source by verifying the email domain. Once you have confirmed that the suspected email is a phishing attempt, please follow the below instructions:
- Step 1: Click on the email, click on the arrow to the right of the "Junk" option or alternatively navigate to the top right corner option "Report Message" of the outlook interface as in the image below.
- Step 2: Choose "Report as phishing". A prompt will then appear asking for confirmation.
- Step 3: Press "Report". After choosing to report the email, a copy is sent directly to Microsoft to better help in analysing phishing/scam emails and to prevent similar emails coming directly to GLG mailbox in the future.
If you are unable to locate , please raise a GUS Helpdesk ticket.
